We spent three days in the city of Playa del Carmen in a cool little guest house close to the beach. Unfortunately due to the seaweed, swimming conditions weren’t the best so we just went for evening walks each night. The sunsets are incredible with the sky slowly turning from pink to purple. PDC is super touristy with lots of American tourists choosing to stay in all inclusive resorts there. This also meant there was no shortage of shopping so we spent a day refreshing our wardrobe with a few new tshirts so we don’t arrive in New York looking too haggard.

After three days in PDC we caught a ferry to Isla Cozumel, about 40 minutes offshore. This island was surprisingly big so we hired a scooter one of the days and spent the day cruising around the entire island stopping for swims. The west facing beaches had hardly any seaweed which was great! We spent the rest of our time here eating fabulous food and swimming in our guest house pool.
